Professor Adelaja Odutola Odukoya

Adelaja Odutola Odukoya, Ph.D, a Professor of Comparative Political Economy lectures at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos, where he has his BSc., MSc, and PhD in Political Science. He joined the service of his Alma Mater in 2004 and is presently the Dean of the Faculty. He doubled as the Chairman of the Joint Board of Studies of the Administrative Staff College, Topo, Badagry, Lagos State. A scholar-activist, he has worked extensively on the crisis and contradictions of accumulation in Nigeria; the nexus between the nature, character of the state and the trajectory of governance and democratic deconsolidation in Africa. His research also focuses on the burden and challenges of dependency in Africa as well as the development problematic of Africa. He was the Political Economy Analyst on the Nigerian case study for the Agricultural Policy Research in Africa (APRA); a research programme of the Future Agricultures Consortium (FAC) in the five African countries (2016-2021) as well as Political Economy Analysis Expert on the Water Sanitation, Hygiene Programme for Oyo, Kwara, Edo, Anambra and Abia state a World Bank sponsored research. He recently delivered his inaugural lecture titled “Armageddon?”. He has over 45 publications in journals, chapter Contributions and working paper in Nigerian and across the globe.
